What is the purpose of the Layer setting in DGEN settings panel?

Working with frames in general, not just text frames, represent a two-dimensional space that allows moving around your workspace where one layer can be move around for a selected frame and since the background of a frame may be opaque or transparent, the level the frame is at will affect how much of the frame can be visible in relation to other overlapping or underlying frame.

The layer can be locked in place where everything about your frame is locked in size, position and contents and editing the frame from the corner and sides also disappear and the layer setting becomes greyed out as well.

In summary, frames hold pages whereas layers hold content with pages and layers can be on top of each other or made visible or hidden. Layers are containers for animation objects and can be stacked as layer 0, 1 or 2, etc.

Worked example

Text Settings Layer is set to 2 and it’s not locked.

A frame can also overlap onto another; a layer can be set for the overlapping frame to keep it position.

Layer for “Use” frame is set to ‘0’

Layer for “Supplier Info” frame is set to ‘10’

The primary difference between these two layers is they are both “not locked” in place and when the data or content is filled into those layers the layer10 supplier frame) will be more sent to the front as depicted below.

Frame adjusted but still maintain the layers ‘0’ and ‘10’.
