1. Chemwatch Extracted Data by VGD

The latest changes on the viewable Manifest Material Table may display an new icon called "VGD" in the materials column.

Material's Table Icon Description Purpose and Use of VGD
VGD

Vendor Gold Data (Extracted Automatically by Chemwatch) VGD data is a representation of availability of classification information for a particular material extracted by Chemwatch with respect to the Vendor SDS material as is; by display of the static icon . Chemwatch displays an icon called VGD in the materials column against that material.
Note
Chemwatch Classification for a Gold SDS may differ from the Vendor as Chemwatch conducts independent research and considers the worst case scenario to provide as much adequate information as possible; for best health and safety practices.

2. DET by User - This Tool will be replaced by UGD!

(Alternatively, User Dependent Classification based on Vendor Information)

DET (Question Mark)

Data Extraction Tool (Manually extracted data) Material name in the table is designated with a hazard question mark , which means that classification data has not been extracted by Chemwatch at this time. however, user can extract classification data by use of the DET Tool.
One of the primary benefits of having data extracted for a material that does not have a Gold SDS, user can filter by hazards or dangerous goods or specific hazards such carcinogens, flammables, corrosives, environment, just to name a few; and if the material (with DET applied) will be able to be filtered through if deemed hazardous or dangerous depending on assigned classification data.

3. User Gold Data (UGD) - This Tool will replace DET!

 is now treated as UGD

Data Extraction Tool (Manually extracted data by user) is now classed as UGD Material name in the table is designated with a hazard question mark , which means that classification data has not been extracted by Chemwatch at this time. however, user can extract classification data by use of the DET Tool.
One of the primary benefits of having data extracted for a material that does not have a Gold SDS, user can filter by hazards or dangerous goods or specific hazards such carcinogens, flammables, corrosives, environment, just to name a few; and if the material (with DET applied) will be able to be filtered through if deemed hazardous or dangerous depending on assigned classification data and also conduct risk assessments on that material.

* UGD is vendor document specific
* Data extracted using DET form is domain dependent, which means that if data is extracted y user, it will only remain extracted only for that particular login domain account.

4. Data Preferences Settings

Note that there are four types of settings related to use of classification data. These settings will be set by the domain administrator of the system in conjunction with Chemwatch. If unsure of the type of VGD that is applicable to your domain account, please contact customer service account manager at customerservice@chemwatch.net. For background information, the table below provides a summary description of the various types of VDG attributes to settings and how it works in the system when searching and/or when materials lists are displayed and also display of Gold, Mini MSDS and Labels.

Type of Data     Usage Description
UGD (User Gold Data) Data extracted by a user to be used in Manifest Table view of hazards and applicable risk/hazard coses, dangerous goods classification where applicable by vendor classification of the material in order to be able to;
* Filter by different types of hazards, dangerous goods, generate Incompatibility Reports
* Conduct Risk Assessments for a material that does not have Gold MSDS (no classification data available in the system as per Chemwatch classification)

User Gold Data extracted using the DET Tool by referencing a Vendor specific document data in section 2, 3, 11 and 14 in order to assign respective Risk/Hazard Codes, DG Class, PKG to that material.

Force Gold

Gold MSDS data will only be used

VGD and UGD data will never be used when Force Gold data is used. Gold Data is based on Chemwatch classification as per regulatory instruments as per respective jurisdictions (by Region/Country/MSDS Format).

Force VGD Vendor Gold Data or User Gold Data will only be used

VGD and UGD data will be used when Force VGD data is used. Vendor or User Gold Data is based on data extracted for classification as per regulatory instruments. Gold Data will never be used, except when a Gold MSDS is displayed or Mini or Labels or Emergency Reports.

Prefer Gold

Prefer VGD
Prefer Gold - Use of both Gold and VGD/UGD data

Prefer VGD - Use of both Gold and VGD/UGD data

Gold data will only be used when a single material has both types of data available.

VGD/UGD data will only be used when a single material has both types of data available
