The Mini (M)SDS is generally a default Chemwatch authored document. It is a one page colour coded summary report for a material that already has a corresponding Gold (M)SDS as per the classification criteria used; GHS/REACH/Local) and is dependent on country and language settings. It covers six sections; material identification (ingredients), acute and chronic health effects, physical properties, emergency, first aid, precautions, safe storage and contains information presented in graphical format. Attached is a guide to classification and graphics for reference. Click on the image to view tagged headers for an overview.

Item Sectional Layer Description
1 Colour coding Colour coding depends on the highest number of the hazard rating category which concludes the level of the hazard; non-hazardous, low hazard, moderate hazard, high hazard or extreme hazard. Refer to the table below for the hazard rating categories and he respective colour coding and hazard statement based on the rating.

2 Legislative statement This section specifies the legislative arrangement with relevancy to the classification instrument utilised as per the type of MSDS format. Each type of format is linked to specific countries/jurisdictions/regions.
The legislative statement is based on the MSDS Settings set to specific country. There are three primary legislative instruments as descried below.

MSDS Format

Description

Local

Australian regulatory instrument is the default (M)SDS setting; NOHSC/ADG Code

GHS

Globally Harmonized system of classification and Labelling of Hazardous Chemicals

REACH

Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of chemical Substances SDS (European Regulation on Chemical and their Safe Use

3 Identification This section provides the name of the material, ingredient(s) name(s), Chemical Abstract Substance Number, % proportion, Occupational Exposure Limit per ingredient.

The dangerous goods classification is also tailored in this section where, if the material classified as a dangerous good, the information will be summarised as DG Data including the DG diamond corresponding to its class, UN number, Hazchem code, DG Class number, Subsidiary Risk, Packing Group and Poison Schedule. Example for formaldehyde is shown below.

4 Health Hazard Information Mini displays immediate health effects and any Chemwatch recommend extra risk(s) with an asterisk (*), which depicts – limited evidence (non legal risk). The full risks can be referenced in Gold (M)SDS for the material.

The health hazards also depicted in graphical format. Hovering your mouse over each generated graphic will provide the respective tag information about the graphic. We also have a guide wall chart which describe each graphic used in Mini MSDS as a summary representation of information. See attachment linked to this article to download the wall chart for your reference.

For full hazard/risks classification data, refer to the full Chemwatch Gold (M)SDS for more details.

5 Precautions for User Summary of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and appropriate engineering controls recommended. Specific PPEs are provided with the summary for storage and transportation information where applicable.

Hovering your mouse over each generated graphic will provide the respective tag information about the graphic. We also have a guide wall chart which describe each graphic used in Mini MSDS as a summary representation of information. See attachment linked to this article to download the wall chart for your reference.
6 Properties Provides brief information on physical properties of the material/chemical/product including graphics as communication tool. Hovering your mouse over each generated graphic will provide the respective tag information about the graphic. We also have a guide wall chart which describe each graphic used in Mini MSDS as a summary representation of information. See attachment linked to this article to download the wall chart for your reference.

7 Emergency Emergency information is summarised using graphical representation. Hovering your mouse over each generated graphic will provide the respective tag information about the graphic. We also have a guide wall chart which describe each graphic used in Mini MSDS as a summary representation of information. See attachment linked to this article to download the wall chart for your reference. You may also refer to the various types of emergency reports for more details. 8 First Aid In case of exposure, injury or illness, first aid information is paramount. A summary of first aid categories include; Swallowing, Eye Contact, Skin contact, Inhalation, Advice to Doctor, Fire Fighting, Spills and Disposal considerations.

9 Safe Storage with other Classified Chemicals Recommendation of combinations of other classes based on compatibility is provided as a guide to consider safe storage based on the health aspect of the materials/chemicals/products.
